DOWLAND – DANYEL English lute songs
Music for voice and lute by John Dowland (1563 – 1626) and John Danyel (1564 – 1626)
An intimate afternoon with tenor Kieran White and lutenist Cédric Meyer offering a selection of English lute songs or « Ayres », considered the most favourite music among the royalty and nobility at the turn of the 16th century. A selection of solo lute music from those same two composers will complete the concert and bring some musical relief to the poetic melancholia that was so fashionable at that time.
