After performing at the prestigious Last Night of the Proms in 2018 and having her performance described as “the indisputable highlight” by BBC News, the renowned saxophonist Jess Gillam MBE continues to grow her international career as well as presenting on TV and Radio. She is the first saxophonist ever to have reached the final of the BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition and she has won a Classic Brit Award. In this concert she teams up with Ruth Rogers and Thomas Hull with their handpicked orchestra of some of the finest orchestral players in London. Jess will perform Glazunov’s beautiful, lyrical and romantic saxophone concerto.
Ruth Rogers is well known to local audiences and will perform Mozart’s exuberant Violin Concerto in G major. It is a joyful work that will surely help to erase any post pandemic pain. The orchestra will also perform a sparkling Haydn Symphony and the effervescent Classical Symphony by Prokofiev under the musical direction of the wonderful Thomas Hull. This will be a concert full of musical fireworks and one surely not to be missed!
